Experienced Leadership to Move San Marcos Schools Forward.

Hi Neighbors,

my name is Derrick Davis, and I’m running for the San Marcos Unified School District Governing Board.

Our family is deeply invested in San Marcos schools. My wife has proudly served as an SMUSD educator for 15 years, two of our four children are current district students, and you can regularly find us on local fields and courts supporting youth sports.

As a parent and business leader, I understand both the daily classroom challenges our teachers face and the practical oversight needed to run a complex organization. I am running to provide common-sense leadership that:

• Prioritizes Academic Excellence: Ensuring every student receives a best-in-class education that prepares them for college, careers, and beyond.

• Supports Classrooms & Teachers: Equipping our educators with the tools, stability, and respect necessary to help students thrive.

• Delivers Fiscal Accountability: Bringing private-sector discipline and transparency to district budgeting and long-term planning.

San Marcos schools should remain among the very best in San Diego County. I would be honored to earn your vote and represent our community on the board.
