Fiscal Responsibility & Good Governance

Our district must be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars and ensure that resources are focused where they have the greatest impact: in the classroom. Having spent my career in the private sector, I will bring a business-minded perspective to the board. I will support responsible budgeting, long-term financial planning, and transparent decision-making to protect the fiscal health of SMUSD and preserve high-quality programs and services for students.

 

Safe & Secure Campuses

Every student deserves to feel safe at school, and every parent deserves confidence that their child is learning in a secure environment. I have spent the past decade helping lead a company that specializes in security and access systems that have been used by schools across the country. I will take my expertise in security and ensure San Marcos Unified is doing everything possible to create safe and secure campuses. That means modernizing our campuses with appropriate fencing, security cameras, controlled-access systems, and well-trained school resource officers, while continually evaluating our safety practices to address emerging needs.

 

Academic Achievement

Academic achievement must remain at the center of everything we do. I support a data-centered approach that identifies where students are succeeding, where they are falling behind, and which programs are producing measurable results so we can provide every student with the resources, individual attention, and support they need to succeed.

 

Special Education

Students with disabilities and their families deserve high-quality programs, appropriate resources, and a district that works collaboratively with them to meet each student’s individual needs. I will advocate for strong special education programs, support our special education teachers and staff, and work to ensure students have access to the services and opportunities they need to thrive.

 

Accountability & Campus Culture

Our classrooms should be environments where teachers can teach and students can focus on learning. I support clear, consistently enforced expectations around student behavior, dress codes, classroom technology, and discipline that hold students accountable while treating them fairly and respectfully. While we should always act with compassion and attempt to rehabilitate disruptive behavior, we also must not loose sight of the fact that actions have consequences for our students. Creating an orderly and focused campus culture benefits students, teachers, and families alike.
